What is 2X TerminalServer for Linux?

2X TerminalServer for Linux provides users with a secure, personal Linux desktop accessible from anywhere in the world, over any connection. Now you can do away with the administration-intensive, virus and error-prone fat clients and in the process, allow employees to easily access their personal desktop, files and enterprise applications from home or on the road. Save $$$ on Microsoft licenses with Linux as a desktop What's more, you can do away with the expensive Microsoft Server, client access and application licenses, since 2X TerminalServer is Linux-based! Employees get a familiar GUI (KDE or Gnome, both very similar to Windows) and use the power of OpenOffice, FireFox and Thunderbird instead.

How it works

In a nutshell, 2X TerminalServer for Linux serves out virtual Linux (KDE, Gnome) desktops to either an NX based client such as 2X Terminal Server client, providing a windowed or full screen Linux desktop to FAT clients. Or alternatively can be used to provide desktops to PCs and Thinclients using NX or managed by products such as 2X ThinClientServer.

2X ThinClientServer is available for download from http://www.2x.com/pxes/download.htm and comes in two versions.

  • PXES edtion, is free and allows connections to RDP, NX and 2X published applications protocols. Support is available through the user to user forums at forums.2x.com.
  • Enterprise Edition also supports Citrix protocol support and can have email and telephone support. For more details see the website and manual.
